ISLAND ART & TREASURES CARES

At Island Art & Treasures we care about people. Like many others, it troubles us deeply to see injustices imposed on others, and in particular we are concerned when innocent children are affected. To that end we have sought out to partner with an organization devoted to assisting at-risk children from several Caribbean island nations.

The I-Can Foundation is a group foster home established to care for small children who have been removed from their homes as victims of neglect or abuse. The children of the home get the love and caring they require, and through treatment programs, guidance, and other activities, they are prepared for the future.  A caring and energetic lady named Cassandra Gibbs runs the home.  Cassandra and her staff care for the many children who cannot be care for themselves.

On August 1, 2007 the Foundation’s home on Sint Maarten was destroyed by fire, displacing all of it’s young residents.  Fortunately, all of the occupants survived the tragedy, but they are left with a great need.  Cassandra has been able to house the children in temporary facilities, and she has recently received the requierd permits so that the rebuilding may begin on a new home for the children.

Island Art & Treasures wants to be an active participant in changing young lives for the future.  Therefore we have partnered with the I-Can Foundation to assist them in their reconstruction and operational needs.  A percentage of all sales at Island Art & Treasures will be contributed directly to the Foundation.  If you would like to know more about the Foundation please visit them at the I-Can Foundation website.
